Ms. Jennifer Houston was named Teacher of the Year for her work with supporting students and staff at the school. Ms. Houston teaches sophomores in Developmental Math and Geometry.

“I feel very honored because there are so many great teachers here,” Ms. Houston said when she learned about receiving the award.

Although she has yet to learn exactly what her duties will be in this new role, Ms. Houston is proud to represent the school in a larger capacity.

“My hopes are to get input from teachers and students,” Ms. Houston said, “then take that to the district.”

Staff members voted on the Teacher of the Year candidate this past month and selected the candidate they felt best represented the values of the school.

"Ms. Houston goes above and beyond to ensure a top notch education for her students, both academically and socially,” Principal Ms. Vanessa Denney said. “[She] supports her colleagues in whatever ways necessary.”
