Welcome!

Stephanie King

I believe Social Studies is the most important part of public schools - they were founded to create an educated citizenry. I want my students to enjoy what we do, to be challenged to look at the world in new ways, and to ultimately be better able to think deeply and critically about a wide range of issues. For a little more about me professionally, check out my teacher stats: * Graduated in 2003 from Union University (Jackson, TN) with a BS in Learning Foundations, K-8 * Graduated in 2007 from the University of Georgia (Athens, GA) with an M.Ed. in Secondary Social Studies, 7-12 * I have lived/taught in 3 states (Georgia, Texas, South Carolina) and 4 cities (Atlanta, Athens, San Antonio, Charleston) * I have taught 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and now 9th and 10th grades Other important information: * I can be found cheering "Go Dawgs!" on Saturdays in the fall (sometimes that's followed by tears; it just depends on the season) * I love the San Antonio Spurs * I haven't ever met a taco I didn't like * I will always say "yes" to an offer of coffee or chocolate * Live music is one of my favorite activities outside of school * I have moved across the country twice to be closer to family; if they move again, I may stay put this time ;)
