Principal Barrett Reese
Barrett Reese began his career as a social studies teacher at Charleston County School of the Arts where he taught World and U.S. History and served as Social Studies Department Chair. In 2013, he joined Lowcountry Tech Academy, overseeing innovative courses like Cybersecurity and Digital Graphics. He later became assistant principal at Simmons-Pinckney Middle School in 2016 and Early College High School in 2019 where he promoted equitable access to dual credit courses and led MTSS initiatives to provide targeted student support. Mr. Reese holds a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of South Carolina, a master’s degree in Teaching from The Citadel, and is a 17-year CCSD veteran.
Asst. Principal James Tomasello
James Tomasello brings over 15 years of dedicated service to Charleston County School District, demonstrating a commitment to fostering student achievement and community engagement. Beginning his career as an educator in Long Island, New York, Mr. Tomasello transitioned to Charleston, where he taught single-gender classes at North Charleston Elementary and Pinehurst Elementary. His passion for literacy led him to serve as a Program Manager for Reading Partners, where he promoted reading through data-driven action planning and literacy-focused initiatives. As an Assistant Principal, Mr. Tomasello honed his leadership skills over six years at Northwoods Middle School, working with students across all grade levels. He later brought his expertise to Baptist Hill Middle/High School, where he focused on building meaningful relationships with parents and students. Currently serving as Assistant Principal at Early College High School, Mr. Tomasello excels at collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including parents, volunteers, and community agencies, to create a supportive and inclusive educational environment. A graduate of St. John's University with a bachelor's degree in Education and a master's degree in Administration from Southern Wesleyan University, Mr. Tomasello is deeply committed to academic excellence and student success.
Asst. Principal Rachael Washington
Rachael Washington is an experienced educator with over 14 years in the Charleston County School District. She has held leadership roles as a School Counselor, MTSS Co-Facilitator, and PBIS Facilitator, focusing on improving student behavior, academic success, and social-emotional development. Ms. Washington is dedicated to fostering positive school climates and supporting staff through professional development. With a Master’s in Elementary School Counseling and a Graduate Certificate in Administration Leadership, she is committed to enhancing student outcomes and is eager to contribute to her efforts at Early College High School.
